Day 1 - Classic Yala Experience

Day 2 - Extended Park Areas
Blocks 2 and 3 Safari
Explore lesser-visited sections with different ecosystems including dry zone forest and grasslands. These areas have good sloth bear populations and offer opportunities to see different leopard territories.
Kataragama Sacred Complex
Visit this multi-religious pilgrimage site sacred to Buddhists, Hindus, and indigenous Vedda people. The complex includes temples, mosques, and the famous Kataragama Devalaya where devotees make offerings.
Menik River Evening Safari
Follow the river system through Block 5 where elephants come to drink and bathe. This area has different bird species including kingfishers, bee-eaters, and water birds not common in other blocks.
Day 3 - Coastal Wildlife and Culture
Bundala National Park Bird Safari
Focus on this wetland sanctuary famous for winter migratory birds including greater flamingos, pelicans, and painted storks. The lagoons also support crocodiles and different elephant behaviors than Yala.
Kirinda Temple and Fishing Harbor
Explore the clifftop temple with ocean views and observe traditional fishing methods at the active harbour. Local fishermen use traditional boats and techniques unchanged for generations.
Tissamaharama Tank and Town
Visit the ancient irrigation reservoir built in 3rd century BCE and explore the town centre with local markets. The tank supports large flocks of water birds and offers peaceful sunset views.
