Your Itinerary
Day 1 - Fort and Local Life
Galle Fort Ramparts
Start early to avoid crowds on the fort walls. The complete circuit takes you past the lighthouse, Flag Rock, and offers sunrise views over the ocean before the heat builds up.
National Maritime Museum
Housed in a former Dutch warehouse, this museum displays ship models, maritime artifacts, and exhibits about Sri Lanka's trading history. The coral collection is particularly well-curated.
Galle Fort Shopping Streets
Browse antique shops along Church Street and Leyn Baan Street for colonial furniture, old maps, and gemstones. Many shops occupy restored Dutch buildings with original features intact.
Day 2 - Beaches and Culture
Jungle Beach
This small cove is reached by a 10-minute forest path and offers excellent snorkeling with sea turtles often visible. The beach stays relatively uncrowded due to its hidden location.
Unawatuna Beach
Sri Lanka's most popular beach offers calm swimming conditions and beachfront restaurants. The coral reef protection makes this one of the safest swimming spots on the south coast.
Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum
Located in Koggala, this museum showcases traditional Sri Lankan life through authentic village recreations, puppet shows, and craft demonstrations. The wooden architecture is worth seeing alone.
