Day 1 - Fort Deep Dive
All Saints Anglican Church
Built in 1871, this Gothic Revival church contains memorials to colonial administrators and beautiful stained glass windows. The cemetery behind holds graves dating to the Dutch period.
Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct
This restored 17th-century hospital complex now houses upscale shops and cafes. The architecture showcases Dutch colonial medical facilities, and several shops sell authentic antiques and textiles.
Galle Lighthouse and Flag Rock
The 1938 lighthouse stands 26 meters tall and offers sunset views. Flag Rock, where the Dutch flag once flew, is now a popular spot for cliff jumping despite local warnings about safety.
Day 2 - Beaches and Local Experiences
Snake Island Beach
This secluded beach requires a short walk through coconut groves but rewards with pristine sand and excellent swimming conditions. Local fishermen still use traditional outrigger boats here.
Koggala Stilt Fishermen
Watch traditional stilt fishing along Koggala Beach, where fishermen perch on wooden poles driven into the coral reef. This centuries-old technique is still practiced by local families.
Yatagala Raja Maha Viharaya
This 2nd-century Buddhist temple carved into a rock face contains ancient frescoes and a large reclining Buddha statue. The cave temples offer insight into early Buddhist art in Sri Lanka.
Day 3 - Inland Exploration
Handunugoda Tea Estate
This working tea plantation produces Virgin White Tea, the world's most expensive variety. The tour includes tea tasting and explains the hand-picking process that creates this premium product.
Kataluwa Purwarama Temple
This modern Buddhist temple features striking murals covering every wall surface, depicting Buddhist stories and Sri Lankan history. The artwork was completed by local artists in the 1990s.
Galle Market and New Town
Experience local life at Galle's main market, where vendors sell tropical fruits, spices, and street food. The surrounding new town shows modern Sri Lankan daily life contrasting with the fort.
