Day-by-Day Itinerary

9 days of adventure

Negombo church

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Negombo. Spend the evening at leisure, exploring the vibrant cityscape or relaxing at your hotel.

Fishing boat in Negombo

Start your day exploring the traditional fishing village of Negombo. Watch locals untangle their nets and colourful boats bobbing gently in the lagoon, signs of daily life unfolding in the salty morning air. Centre yourself with a three-hour yoga session. The calm setting and slow stretches help you unwind while the rhythmic ocean breeze keeps you grounded. In the afternoon, enjoy a two-hour deep tissue massage. As the sun dips low, settle into a seaside restaurant for fresh seafood grilled to perfection.

Colombo National Museum

Spend the day in Colombo, a city where old-world charm meets modern energy. Begin with a stroll along Galle Face Green, where the sea breeze carries the scent of street food and children fly kites against the ocean sky. Explore colonial buildings and colourful markets in Pettah, where bustling lanes brim with spices, saris, and handcrafted treasures. Visit the National Museum or relax in the calm of Gangaramaya Temple.

Water buffalo in Udawalawe

Head to Udawalawe for a day filled with wild beauty and open skies. Begin with a 4x4 jeep safari through Udawalawe National Park, where elephants roam freely across grasslands and water buffalo wade through quiet lakes. Keep your eyes peeled for crocodiles, peacocks, and soaring eagles. Visit the nearby Elephant Transit Home to see young elephants being cared for before their return to the wild.

Mirissa Beach

Begin your day in Mirissa with a snorkelling adventure in clear turquoise waters. Swim alongside vibrant coral reefs, playful fish, and maybe even a graceful sea turtle or two. Later, climb up to Coconut Hill - a breezy palm-covered headland offering sweeping views of the Indian Ocean. Spend the afternoon lounging on the golden sands or enjoying a fresh coconut under the sun.

Explore Coconut Hill
Surf boards standing upright

Head to Weligama for a fun-filled surf lesson with one of the island's top instructors. The wide sandy bay and gentle waves make it a perfect spot for beginners. Start with a safety briefing and on-shore preparation. You'll learn how to position yourself, balance on the board, and understand the basics of paddling. Once you hit the water, your instructor guides you through wave selection. With hands-on coaching and plenty of practice, you'll be riding your first waves in no time.

Yoga in Weligama

Wake up to another refreshing day in Weligama. Build on what you learned - fine-tuning your paddling, improving your balance, and gaining more confidence with every wave. In the late afternoon, unwind with a peaceful yoga session by the beach. Stretch, breathe, and let the sound of the waves carry you into complete relaxation.

Scenic river safari in Galle

Spend the day discovering the charm of Galle and its surrounding coastal gems. Start with a walk through Galle Fort, where cobbled streets, Dutch-colonial buildings, and sea-battered ramparts reveal stories of centuries past. Watch the iconic stilt fishermen balanced on slender poles above the waves. In the afternoon, enjoy a tranquil boat safari along the Madu River, gliding through tangled mangroves and past tiny islets. Wrap up the day in Ambalangoda with a visit to a mask museum.

Airport terminal

After breakfast, return to Colombo for a city tour if time permits. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight and take some time to enjoy some last-minute duty-free shopping.

Tour Overview

This 9-day retreat is built around two things: surf and stillness. It follows Sri Lanka's south coast from Negombo down to Galle, threading together beachfront yoga sessions, beginner-friendly surf lessons in Weligama, a wildlife safari in Udawalawe, and the colonial charm of Galle Fort.

The pace is deliberately slow. You are not rushing between temples and tick-box sights. Instead, you spend two full days in Weligama learning to surf with professional instructors, two nights in Negombo easing into the trip with yoga and massage, and enough free time in Mirissa to do nothing at all if that is what you need.

What Makes This Tour Special

Most Sri Lanka tours try to cover the entire island in ten days. This one does not. It stays coastal, stays south, and stays focused on wellness and water. The surf lessons are structured - you get a proper safety briefing, on-shore training, and two full sessions in the water - but the atmosphere is relaxed. There is no pressure to perform and no fixed schedule beyond the main activities.

The yoga sessions are held on the beach at sunset, not in a hotel conference room. The massage in Negombo is a genuine two-hour deep tissue treatment, not a spa upsell. And the Udawalawe safari breaks up the coast days with something completely different - open grassland, wild elephants, and a landscape that feels like East Africa.

What Guests Say

Exactly what I needed. The yoga sessions on the beach at sunset were magical, and I actually stood up surfing by day two. Cannot recommend this enough for anyone feeling burnt out.

We booked this as a couple and it was the perfect mix of activity and relaxation. Weligama was the highlight - gentle waves, great instructors, and the vibe is so laid-back.

Lovely tour. The Udawalawe safari was an unexpected bonus - we saw over 40 elephants. Galle Fort was charming too. Only wished we had one more day in Mirissa.
