Day 1 - Surf Culture

Arugam Bay Village Walk
Walk through the small fishing village to see traditional stilt houses, fishing boats, and local markets. Stop at the mosque and observe daily life away from the tourist beach area.
Crocodile Rock Swimming
Swim and relax at this rock pool formation south of the main beach. The rocks create natural pools at high tide, and it's a popular spot for cliff jumping.
Day 2 - Ancient Sites
Kudumbigala Monastery Complex
Explore the extensive ruins of this ancient forest monastery. The site includes caves, stupas, and meditation platforms carved into massive boulders across several hilltops.
Muhudu Maha Viharaya Temple
Visit this seaside Buddhist temple with a reclining Buddha statue and ocean views. Local legend says this is where Princess Viharamahadevi landed after being set adrift.
Panama Beach
End at this wide, undeveloped beach near Kumana National Park. Often see elephants on the beach during certain seasons, and it's good for spotting migrating birds.
Day 3 - Wildlife Safari
Kumana National Park Safari
Early morning wildlife drive in this bird sanctuary and elephant habitat. Peak season brings massive flocks of migrating water birds, plus elephants, crocodiles, and leopards.
Okanda Temple
Stop at this coastal Hindu temple dedicated to Murugan, built on rocks overlooking the ocean. Popular pilgrimage site with annual festivals attracting thousands of devotees.
Elephant Rock Sunset
Return to Elephant Rock for sunset views over the coast. The late afternoon light makes for excellent photography, and you can spot the day's final elephant activity below.
