A challenging 4-hour round-trip hike to a 1,041-meter summit that provides the best panoramic views in the Ella area. The trail follows railway tracks for part of the route before branching into jungle paths that lead to a rocky outcrop overlooking the Uva Province valleys. It sits below the headline sights but earns its place on a longer visit to Ella, especially paired with nearby Little Adam's Peak. Tickets cost Free (optional guide 2,000-3,000 LKR) and 4-5 hours round trip is enough to see everything without rushing.
What It Is
What you experience depends on the season. Spring and summer are the strongest months, but even in winter the grounds have a quiet appeal. Dress for the weather - you are outdoors the entire time.
Why Visit
The highest accessible peak near Ella with unobstructed 360-degree views across three provinces. It is not the first thing you should see in Ella, but with two or more days it fills a gap the major sights leave. It pairs naturally with Little Adam's Peak and Nine Arches Bridge - together they fill a solid half-day. Mornings are quieter if you want to take your time.
