Tour Overview
This 12-day journey takes you through Sri Lanka's lesser-visited north and east coast before looping back through the Cultural Triangle to Kandy. It is designed for travellers who want more than the standard tourist circuit.
You will spend three days in Jaffna, a city most visitors skip entirely. The Tamil culture here is distinct from the rest of Sri Lanka, the food is different, the temples are Hindu rather than Buddhist, and the atmosphere is unlike anywhere else on the island. From Jaffna you head south to Trincomalee, one of the world's great natural harbours, with beaches that rival anything on the south coast but without the crowds.
The second half of the tour covers the Cultural Triangle classics, Sigiriya, Dambulla, and Kandy, but from an angle most tours don't take. Arriving from the east rather than the west gives you a different perspective and avoids the heaviest tourist traffic.
What Makes This Tour Special
This is not a beach holiday or a temple circuit. It is a journey through the parts of Sri Lanka that most operators don't cover. The north of the island was closed to visitors for decades during the civil war and has only recently opened up. The infrastructure is newer, the hospitality is genuine, and the cultural experience is unlike the rest of Sri Lanka.
You get a private vehicle, an English-speaking chauffeur guide, and the flexibility to adjust the pace as you go. If you want to spend an extra hour at a temple or skip a stop entirely, that is your call.
